Broken or Chipped Tooth
You’re going to want to call our team as soon as possible. In the meantime, make sure to rinse out your mouth with warm water, and try to keep the tooth if possible. Try to keep an ice-pack on it in transit to our office.
Loose Tooth
If your tooth is loose, our dentist may be able to save it. Take some over the counter painkillers, put some ice on it, and get to our office as soon as possible. The sooner you get here, the higher chance your tooth will be saved successfully.
Broken or Lost Crown or Filling
Try to keep the crown or filling to bring with you. Your tooth is going to be very sensitive to almost any sensation of things going into your mouth, including air.
Toothache
The best thing to do is to rinse your mouth with warm water, then try to gently floss around the tooth to make sure no food is in the area. If the pain persists, you’re going to need to come into our office. An X-ray should help identify the underlying issue.
Object Lodged Between Teeth
When something gets stuck between your teeth, it can become irritated and could lead to infection. The risk of cavities or infection increases after the first 72 hours. Try to get the lodged item out with waxed dental floss. The waxed floss can lubricate the area and dislodge the foreign object. If all else fails, call our team for an appointment.
Swelling in the Mouth
Swelling in the mouth could happen for a number of reasons. You may have an abscessed tooth or an infection. There’s really nothing you can do other than getting to our office as soon as possible.
Broken Braces
Braces have a lot of parts that can break. If they break, call our team as soon as possible to book an emergency appointment. Try using some orthodontic wax to cover it if a wire is poking out. If it’s a band that loosens, salvage it and set up an appointment with your orthodontist to have it replaced or re-cemented. You may need to do a minor fix before getting to our office to not cause discomfort in your mouth.
Bit Your Tongue/Cheek
This is very common, and most of the time it’s not too much of an issue. Though there can be circumstances that make it more severe. If there's a wound deep enough, you may need stitches to heal the area. First you'll need to try and stop the bleeding. Rinse your mouth with some saltwater, then use a piece of gauze to put pressure on the wound.
Injured Jaw
For a broken jaw, take some over the counter painkillers and put some ice on it until you can get to the ER. You will likely need a maxillofacial surgeon as soon as possible.
Impacted or Inflamed Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth can cause pain and can result in dental problems and damage to other teeth. Pain near the wisdom tooth area means it's likely impacted and putting pressure on your gums and other teeth. Visit us as soon as possible to get this resolved.

Precise, Gentle Treatment
Laser dentistry allows for pinpoint accuracy, meaning only the targeted area is treated while surrounding tissues remain untouched. This minimizes discomfort and reduces the need for anesthesia, giving you a smoother and more relaxing dental experience.
Faster Healing & Less Downtime
Because laser technology is minimally invasive, it promotes quicker recovery and less post-treatment swelling. Many patients experience little to no bleeding, making healing faster and more comfortable after most procedures.
Greater Comfort, Less Anxiety
Without the need for drills or scalpels in many treatments, laser dentistry offers a quieter, vibration-free experience. Patients who feel nervous about traditional dental tools often find laser treatments to be far more comfortable and stress-free.
Dr. Xin Chen is a devoted dentist whose career is anchored in enhancing oral health through tooth preservation. A graduate of Beijing Medical University's School of Stomatology, Dr. Chen's passion for preserving teeth was ignited by the intricate blend of art and science in dentistry.
Dr. Chen began her career as a resident dentist in the Department of Operative and Endodontic Dentistry at her alma mater. Here, she developed a keen interest in endodontics, specializing in the complex workings of dental pulp and root tissues. She then expanded her expertise in a private practice in Beijing, focusing on patient-centric care.
Her quest for advanced knowledge led her to the Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated in 2006. This experience enriched her skills in advanced dental techniques. Upon relocating to the Charlotte Metro area, Dr. Chen pursued further education, including seminars and training programs such as the Implant Seminar by renowned implant surgeon Dr. Garg, and intensive training at Dr. Tung N Nguyen’s Root Camp since 2023.
Dr. Chen’s dedication to innovative care culminated in opening her practice, where she combines her expertise in endodontics with cutting-edge laser technology to provide comprehensive treatment. Her commitment to excellence ensures her patients receive the highest level of oral care.
